Client Testimonials
Here is what a few of my clients/peers have said about Functional Training Ireland:
“David Hare is an excellent trainer that is constantly studying and implementing the latest training methods for performance enhancement and general fitness. I first met David while attending a Mike Boyle Strength and Conditioning mentorship, where David attended the session in Boston to make the knowledge learned available to his clients in the Dublin area. I advise anyone that is looking for state of the art training in the Dublin area to take advantage of what David Hare can offer”.
Sean Ross, Ross Strength and Speed Little Rock, Arkansas, USA
“I used to think that running was all I needed to do to stay fit and shied away from lifting weights as I thought it would make me bulky. After only a few weekly training sessions with Dave, my strength went through the roof, and my muscle definition had improved dramatically. Instead of bulking up, I was slimming down. An old knee injury no longer niggles either, as my legs are stronger. The best part of it is, these workouts don’t involve boring, run of the mill gym exercises -Functional Training Ireland mix it up every week to keep you guessing, and keep you motivated. Try it ladies – you’ll be hooked!”
Yvonne Kerr, Ranelagh.
“Since beginning with Functional Training Ireland, not only has my fitness but my over all health has improved substantially. Originally I began with the goal of losing fat. My weight has since gone down approx 6 kilos, but my muscle mass has increased also. All of this has been achieved without any injuries or muscle pulls, with improved posture an ancillary benefit. I would highly recommend Functional Training Ireland. With as little as one session a week vast improvements can be made”.
Paul Harrington, Portobello.
“David Hare will bring the knowledge gained during his mentorship at Mike Boyle Strength and Conditioning in Boston, MA to help athletes in Ireland get ahead of the competition!”
Mike Boyle, World Renowned Strength and Conditioning Coach.

“Before starting with Functional Training Ireland, I used to regularly suffer with muscular injuries throughout the season. Thanks to Dave, i am both fixing previous problem areas and developing other weak areas to prevent future injuries. Training with Dave Hare and Functional Training Ireland also means that you maximise your benefits from gym sessions, making you fitter, faster and stronger all round”
Finbar Dowling, Suttonians RFC rugby player.
“I’ve been going in to Pete at FTI for about a year now and I really cannot stress enough the difference it has made to my running. When I first went into him I was struggling with a recurring knee injury which was threatening to finish my running career. Yet a year later I have had my most injury free period in 7 years of running!”
“That is in no small part to the specific strengthening program which Pete has prescribed and
tailored to my needs. You’d be hard pressed to find anyone with the same level of enthusiasm and passion for a job as Pete has. There has been many a cold winter’s night when going in for a strength session was the last thing I wanted to do, but Pete finds a way to motivate and encourage you to get the best out of yourself for the period you are in with him”
Mark Kirwan, Irish International distance runner.
“I started with Peter over a year ago and I haven’t looked back, I’m stronger leaner and faster than I’ve ever been. Any aspiring athlete looking to get the extra 10% out of themselves and looking for better running economy and fewer injuries peter is your man, all his exercises are well thought out and specific to your event. I can honestly say my S&C class is my favourite workout in my very busy training schedule as Peter brings energy, motivation and originality each week I’m there”.
“I’d book in soon as possible. Unfortunately there’s only one Pete and lots of people are looking for the edge, you won’t look back trust me”.
Alan O’Brien 800m/1500m Irish International athlete.
“I have been going to Peter for almost 2 years now and I am amazed at how much stronger and fitter I feel overall as an athlete. As a middle distance runner I use to suffer with reoccurring injuries due to
biomechanical in-balances but after a few months of core and strength work in my weak areas I have never looked back. Pete designs specific strength programs to suit your individual needs which is a real bonus. His enthusiasm and motivation is second to none & he makes every class fun & very enjoyable even when you are been put through your paces. “Mr. Motivator” would be a good name for him! I also attend Peter for deep tissue massage before or after a hard race and I really find this helps immensely in aiding my recovery and it also helps to keep my muscles/joints nice and loose. FTI is the way to go if you want to get fit and healthy & want to have some fun along the way whether you are a couch potato or an aspiring athlete!”
Elaine Caul, Dublin.
“After having my 3 children I decided I needed to tone up and get fit. I was lucky enough to stumble across Dave Hare. Since starting my personal training sessions with Dave my life has changed. My overall fitness level has improved immensely – I have toned up, lost weight and generally have a much more healthy attitude to life and exercise”.
“Dave has formatted an exercise programme specific to my needs. Our 1 to 1 sessions are hard work but always varied and fun. Dave is an excellent motivator and instills confidence in you to achieve your fitness goals. He takes great interest not only in our sessions but also in my home exercise programme, continuously changing it and tweaking it as my fitness level increases. Dave is very aware of my capabilities so I know I am in safe hands and have never suffered any injuries while training. I find FTI premises welcoming and non intimidating. Dave and his crew offer a full range of fitness needs under one roof and I highly recommend them ladies.

Functional Training physio Orla was recommended to me by a friend who had had a tricky injury resolved.
I attended Orla with a troublesome calf injury that had prevented me from running for 4 months. I had attended 2 other physios without success – within a couple of weeks of trying to get back running my calf injury returned. I found the approach taken by Orla to be excellent. I found the initial diagnosis to be very accurate. This allowed significant improvements in my biomechanics, and when coupled with an overall strength conditioning program, I was able to overcome my injury. All very well, but what about the results? Well, I was back running within 4 weeks. I feel stronger, I have lost weight and feel less stress at work. And the best news, 2 and a half months later I have just completed my first ever half-marathon achieving all my time goals!
The other nice thing? While Orla did help me recover, I really enjoyed the broader experience! Orla always had great fitness, health and dietary tips to share. And always did this in a friendly and enjoyable manner.
I would strongly recommend Functional Training and Orla to you.
Anthony O’Leary, Lucan.
“I did it … I ran the marathon on Monday and finished just under 4:30 – I was hoping to run around 4:10/ 4:15 but am delighted to have finished in a reasonable time and reasonable shape (no injuries – knee in good shape and plantar fasciitis silent
.
I stayed with the 4:15 pacers up to about mile 16 but they began to get away from me a that point. Miles 18 to 23 were pretty tough and the 4:30 pacers passed me at the flyover at UCD . Once I turned onto the Merrion Road I decided to do my utmost to catch them and finish under 4:30 – I am glad to say I did this (just about
.
I want to thank you and the rest of the team at Functional Training ( Ursula & Peter) for the first class treatment you have given me.
I have been to a few physio’s before and I have to say that your approach is excellent – you are positive, give clear exercise instructions and instill the belief that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
I could never have achieved this without your expert treatment .
Thanks for the support & help”
Best regards,
Paddy Dillon, Dublin
I would highly recommend Orla and Functional training to anyone. I first went to them in a long running quest to solve shin splits, I had suffered for years and had gone to several physios and physical therapist’s with no solution, I had given up but started to get them when walking so decided to try one last time. After a quick assessment Orla was able to tell me yes that’s your hip and gluts and after a couple of session’s shin splints begone! I wish I found Functional Training years ago.
I then suffered a very painful back injury doing DIY (snapped a ligament) was in hospital for several days etc… after release and only being given basic exercises to do I decided it was best to go back to the pro’s in functional training. Orla was excellent, explained the injury to me much better than anyone else, reassured me
that I’d be able to get back to normal and started the process of rebuilding me.
So now with a combination of physio, strength training and some personal training I’m fitter than I’ve ever been. I’ve gone from an 18 stone coach potato to a person who now cycles 75k at the weekends for fun and I’m 5 stone lighter.
David Kerwick, Dublin
Dave,
just to let you know the program has been going very well for me. I managed to beat a fella in a handball training match the other evening that I have never beaten since I started playing him in college back in 1999!!!
He was amazed at the difference in my fitness levels, even though I have done almost no specific aerobic fitness…..
