David Hare BSc (Sports Science) CSCS

David Hare is the owner of Functional Training Ireland.

David completed his honours degree in Sports and Exercise Science in the University of Limerick in 2006. He is also a Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA) and a level one weightlifting coach. David is currently completing a course in Sports Massage also.

David set up Functional Training Ireland in 2008.

David also works closely with numerous GAA clubs and is the Strength coach for the Irish Paralympic cycling squad and the Strength and Conditioning coach for the Longford Senior GAA team since 2010.

In his spare time David likes to train and compete in Olympic Weightlifting.

Peter Mathews

Peter Mathews – Sports Massage Therapist

 

Peter is a fully qualifed Sports Massage therapist and Personal trainer at Functional Training. Peter is also a champion cross country runner who has represented Ireland on numerous occasions.

Orla Magorrian

Orla Magorrian – Senior Physiotherapist

 

Orla holds an honours degree from the University of Manchester-School of Physiotherapy, graduating in 2000. She spent 2 years working in hospitals in both US and UK.  She then completed a Masters in Sports Medicine in Trinity College Dublin (2003).  She became a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist in 2007.

 Orla has extensive experience with athletes in a wide range of sports and at all levels (inter- county, national & international). She was team physio to Clontarf XV (2003- 2007) and has also worked with the Irish women’s cricket team, Irish Tae Kwon Do panel and Irish Paralympians. Orla has organised Strength & Conditioning programs for Golf clubs and for under-age GAA panels. She has advised multi-national companies based in Dublin on Wellness programs for their employees.

 Orla is a lecturer on the Undergraduate Physiotherapy program in UCD.

 Orla has a keen interest in Movement Correction Techniques in rehabilitation and prevention of injuries

 Orla has completed both the Dublin & Boston marathons’ and enjoys hiking and functional training.

 

Sinead Tracey MISCP BSc (Sports Science)

 

Sinead graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Sport & Exercise Science in 2007. She then went on to complete her Masters in Physiotherapy in Edinburgh and graduated in 2010 to become a chartered physiotherapist.

While completing her Sports Science and Physiotherapy degrees, Sinead has obtained the National Certificate in Exercise and Fitness (NCEF), the National Diploma in Sport’s Massage and Injury Management and has been trained to instruct in STOTT’s Pilates.

Sinead is interested in all areas of sports and has played many sports at competitive level with her main sport being gaelic football, which she is currently playing for Dublin at intercounty level.

Patricia Conway BSc (Hons) Physio., MSc Sports Med., MISCP.

 
Patricia qualified  at the University of Salford in 1994. Patricia has a wide range of experience dealing with athletes of all levels and ages in Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. Patricia has covered teams  including Ireland rowing team, Irish womens cricket team, New zealand womens cricket team, provincial rugby and netball teams and school childrens sporting groups.

Patricia’s sporting interests include rowing, running, triathlon and climbing.

Patricia also has a special interest in children’s sporting injuries and growth plate disorders and she actively treats young kids for a wide range of muscloskeletal injuries.

Mark Davies Bsc (Hons) MISCP MCSP.

 

Mark gained a First Class Bsc (Hons) in Physiotherapy at The University of Southampton. He has experience working with athletes at National, International and Professional levels in golf, triathlon, hockey, rugby, tennis, GAA, football and dance in both Ireland and the UK.
Mark has a particular interest in Cognitive Functional Training and Rehabilitation in a gym setting. He also practices dry needling which he uses in conjunction with manual therapy to treat myofascial pain.
Mark has a keen interest in cycling, running and Ashtanga Yoga as well as keeping himself fit in the gym. He also has a Bsc (Hons) in Psychology.

Nicky Assaf - Certifed personal trainer

 

Nicky holds a Diploma in Personal Training and a Certificate in Resistance Training and Weight Training for Sports. He is also a NCTC/IAWLA Level 1 Certified Weight Lifting coach. Nicky has a passion for health and fitness fostered through his earlier career in rugby, where he represented Ireland at underage level and the senior 7 a-side team as well as playing on the Leinster Rugby team.
